January 4th

Qualifying Period Begins: First day candidates may qualify for U. S. Congress, Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, County Election Commissioner, Yazoo-Mississippi Delta Levee Commissioner and Mississippi Levee Commissioner.

January 8th

Qualifying Deadline, 5:00 p.m.: Party primary and independent candidates for U. S. Congress and Yazoo-Mississippi Delta Levee Commissioner. State Executive Committees transmit copies of all qualifying papers to MSOS by 6:00 p.m.

Campaign Finance Deadline, 5:00 p.m.: Periodic Campaign Finance Reports for all 2015 candidates due in the appropriate office.

January 29th

Campaign Finance Deadline, 5:00 p.m.: Annual Reports due in the appropriate office

March 8th

Campaign Finance Deadline-5:00 p.m.: Yazoo-Mississippi Delta Levee District Only, Primary Election Report due in the appropriate office.

PRIMARY ELECTION DAY for Federal Offices and Yazoo-Mississippi Delta Levee Board. Polls open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. for voting.

March 29th

PRIMARY RUNOFF ELECTION DAY: Federal Offices and Yazoo-Mississippi Delta Levee Board. Polls open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. for voting.

May 6th

Qualifying Deadline, 5:00 p.m.: Non-Partisan Judicial Offices (Supreme Court and Court of Appeals) and Mississippi Levee District.

May 10th

Campaign Finance Deadline, 5:00 p.m.: Periodic Campaign Finance Reports due in the appropriate office.

June 10th

Campaign Finance Deadline, 5:00 p.m.: Periodic Campaign Finance Reports due in the appropriate office.

July 8th

Campaign Finance Deadline, 5:00 p.m.: Periodic Campaign Finance Reports due in the appropriate office.

August 10th

Qualifying Period Begins: Candidates for County School Board; Consolidated /Consolidated Line School Board Trustee; Municipal Separate School Board Trustee; and 2016 Elections Calendar Rev. Nov-15 8 Special Municipal Separate School Board Trustee.

October 10th

Campaign Finance Deadline, 5:00 p.m.: Periodic Campaign Finance Reports due in the appropriate office.

October 30th

Campaign Finance – 48 Hour Reports (Sunday, 12:01 a.m. through Sunday, November 6th, 12:01 a.m.) for General and Special Election Candidates: If any contribution of more than $200.00 is received by a candidate or candidate’s political committee after the tenth day, but more than 48 hours before 12:01 a.m. on the day of the election, the candidate or political committee must fully disclose the contribution by filing a “Forty-Eight Hour Report” with the appropriate office within 48 hours of receipt of the contribution. (MS Code Ann. § 23-15-805) The notification shall be in writing, and may be transmitted by overnight mail, courier service, or other reliable means, including fax or e-mail, but the candidate or candidate’s committee shall ensure the notification is received in the appropriate office within 48 hours of the contribution.

November 1st

Campaign Finance Pre-Election Report Deadline, 5:00 p.m.: All candidates and political committees who have accepted contributions or made expenditures for the General Election must file pre-Election Reports in the appropriate office.

November 8th

GENERAL ELECTION DAY for President; U.S. Congress; Supreme Court and Court of Appeals; County Election Commissioner; County School Board, Municipal Separate School Board Trustee, Consolidated/Consolidated Line School Board Trustee, Special Municipal Separate School Board Trustee; and Yazoo-Mississippi Delta Levee Commissioner.
