Dear Libertarian
Activist,

I have just accepted the
position of Chair of the Convention Oversight Committee for the 2012 LP
convention May 2-6 in Las Vegas.

There are a number of
big decisions to make in the next week and I could use your help. Will
you take a couple of minutes and complete this survey? There are just 7
questions so it really should take less than 5 minutes.

Just click on this line
- or cut and paste - http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/3VW9ZT6

The survey is anonymous
and will be very helpful to me.

Please feel free to
forward it on to anyone you think may be interested in responding. I have
taken email addresses off state websites, but not every state LP has emails
listed and lists get out of date quickly, so feel free to pass this on.

Thank you in advance for
your help. I look forward to seeing you in Las Vegas at the most fun,
exciting and productive National Convention in decades!

Human rights are universally accepted rights regardless of
nationality, religion and ethnicity. On the other hand, civil rights
fall within the limits of a country’s law, and pertain to the social,
cultural, religious and traditional standards, and other aspects.
Skepticarpenter. Margaret Sanger would have loved your take on the "runaway birthrate" and overpopulation of the masses of irresponsible "sport F'ers". Is it any wonder that the 14th Amendment has turned into the "garbage can" of the "social rights party". You can do what you want ,sport. I just don't want you doin it with my tax dollars, cause I've got skin in this game!

Here is a news flash for you! If you think Mississippi's Republicans are "Real", think again. The Democrats were and still are the party of Jim Crow! All legislation re civil rights in the southern states was fought tooth and nail by the Democrats. The "Conscience" of the party, Senator Byrd of West Virginia was a premiere "Fillibusterin' Fool" early on. The "real" Democrats, i.e., "traveled the road to Damascus with Saul and good old LBJ" "used" Republican clout to cement their conversion to the "Party of Civil Rights". Those who had not the stomach for such shenanigans merely "eased" over and took a different route to the land of business as usual, "We are now Republicans". I'm 66 years old and my eyes are still crossed as in "Hey! Wait just a damn minute! I'm a Republican and always have been. How did I all of a sudden become a "racist?" Apparently, the conversion took place while I was away in the service and living in CA. Here is the thought/slogan I would offer all involved in MS politics; "If your chest swells with pride each time you hear someone point out MS being in last place on any list...... Thank a Democrat and a few select "Republicans". Case in point; Lott(R) and Breaux(D) lobby shop........ real bipartisan solutions to the complex problems in DC. Have a nice day!

Legal question for you, though...would this initiative really be considered a modification of the Bill of Rights? It doesn't modify so much as it clarifies, as there is currently no definition for "person" provided. I suppose it could count as a proposal to the Bill of Rights, though.

To my Libertarian friends - yes this leftist progressive is in enemy territory here on these boards ( although on some issues I have a 'libertarian underbelly'. I wish more of you old time (secular) conservatives would join with us and speak out against this nonsense. This is a disgusting violation of civil liberties, and the ultimate invasion of government control over women's lives. It is possible that rape victims would be forced to carry the "person" to term. On another point - I get that libertarians don't believe in entitlement programs - lets see the result in this the welfare champion state -decades from now when there is an explosion in children dependent on social services - due to ALL the restrictions from this law. Not only will abortion options be eradicated - but various types of birth control and counseling will be curtailed. Who will this affect? The upper and middle class will continue to seek the solutions to their "pregnancy issues" that their resources have always allowed! No it will be the lowest classes that will be affected the most from this law. Those least capable of responsibly providing for their young. Those who will need the social services, subsidized housing, food stamps and unemployment support that most libertarians and conservatives loathe! Reasonable conservatives and libertarians should come out in droves against this initiative. So what do you say? Join us!!! STOP 26!!!

It's not an eminent domain law, but Mississippi's adverse possession law does allow a person to take ownership of the property if the original property owner doesn't dispute it within 10 years. It happened recently in Jones County.

The law: http://web.lexisnexis.com/research/retrieve?_m=b9c607c0c19741c8fc80d9c1247fddca&csvc=toc2doc&cform=&_fmtstr=FULL&docnum=1&_startdoc=1&wchp=dGLbVzk-zSkAl&_md5=9693843abf9900492c1db1f1d09ef5d0
